Tucked away on 2.3 acres of secluded gardens, 125 Savage Street is one of the oldest and most beautiful examples of the Pineland Village-style Historic Homes in the Historic District of Walterboro, SC and is represented in the National Registry of Historic Places.
A rich cultural history is associated with this extraordinary colonial residence. James Glover built 125 Savage Street as a summer home circa 1814 for the rice planter N.Y. Perry . A “window” to the past displays handwriting of confederate soldiers who took refuge from the summer heat in the basement.
Special features of 125 Savage Street include two central doorways, each opens respectively into the formal parlor and into the grand dining room. Each of these period rooms feature 12-foot ceilings, heart of pine floors and are separated by authentic pocket doors. Furthermore, there is expansive outdoor storage space enclosed by a lovely white lattice that encompasses the space below the front porch, formal parlor and grand dining room.
